All service packs can only be used for updating the corresponding program version, i.e. a service pack for version 4.30 requires an existing installation of VISSIM 4.30. The dongle number entered on the previous page (e.g. 28887) has to correspond to the prefix of your hardlock key. (The subsequent sub-code .0 and the five-digit or six-digit customer number don't matter for service packs.) The updates are cumulative, meaning that the latest service pack includes all previous ones of the same main version.

Customers with a maintenance contract receive an update of each new main version automatically. Service packs are not mailed automatically, however. (Customers without a maintenance contract are kindly requested to send their enquiries to traffic.customerservice@ptv.de)

For the installation of the service pack, the downloaded zip file has to be unpacked with a suitable program. All files from the archive except vissim0.exe must be copied into the subdirectory Exe\ of your VISSIM installation. (Previously stored files with the same name should be renamed or moved to a different directory before this.)

After this, the program file vcredist.exe must be executed in order to install the required version of the Microsoft Visual C 8.0 runtime library (for VISSIM 4.30-04 and later).

vissim0.exe is the demo version which needs to be copied into the subdirectory CD\ExePlus\ together with all other files except VISSIM.exe if a demo version is to be delivered to a customer (see \Demo\CD\readme.txt on the VISSIM installation CD). If an installed demo version is to be updated, all files from the service pack except vissim.exe need to be copied into the Exe\ directory of the demo installation.

For the installation of the online help, the downloaded *.zip file has to be unpacked with a suitable program and the file VISSIMeng.chm must be copied into the subdirectory Exe\ of your VISSIM installation. The Russian 3D model selection dialog is installed the same way.

The VISSIM Viewer is a demo version without example data which can be passed on to clients, usually with added data of a VISSIM project. After extraction of the downloaded *.zip file you can find a description of the procedure to create a viewer CD in the file readme.txt in the subdirectory Eng\Demo\.
